New Roasts are in

New roasts and new coffee bean origins are now in at ArtistryCoffee.co.uk

We have a Brazilian bean Fazenda Rio Brilhante from the Carrado Mineirio region grown at c1050m in a large coffee farm established about 30 years ago in an area brought to life by clear bright waters – Rio Brilhante.

With taste notes of Strawberry Bubblegum, Lime and Cream Soda this one mixes smooth sweetness with a sharper edge!

Also new is Altos De Erapuca from the slopes of the second highest mountain in Honduras situated at 1300 to 1360m, from younger coffee trees and using a well constructed drying process mixing natural drying and controlled temperature mixed drying of the beans to regulate moisture and.

This bean has taste notes of Baked Pear, Vanilla, and Cacao – so a smoother taste overall is to be expected.

An updated roast of Finca La Senda is also now available, alongside the option of some of the older roast still (at a reduced price). These beans are from high up in the volcanic Guatemalan region of Acantenango. From a smaller farm, and mixing the characheristics associated with coffee from this are – sweet flavours, bright acidity and good body.

Our price policy on coffee beans is to reduce the cost of the beans for every month after roasting if we still have stock. We aim to have a mix of new roasts and older roasts in stock, depending whether your priority is your pocket or the recency of roast.

Degradation is kept to a minimum with a one-way valve so as well as being kept away from light, and heat, the beans are also kept away from exposure to air.

Our coffees have a story of origin, and also a story of social responsibility: Being roasted as part of a project which aims to reduce reoffending rates by offering some young people in Aylesbury Young Offenders Institute the opportunity to learn about coffee. This includes training as competition quality baristas, and under the tutorship of a Head Roaster to learn about the art and science of coffee roasting.

We’ve upgraded!

Kenya coffee beans - Kimathi AB Kiambu

Our new supply of coffee beans is mainly coming from Redemption Roasters who specialise in high-end coffee roasting in small batches.

They’re an operation with an incredible story and mission and we’re delighted to be stocking beans roasted locally in Aylesbury in such a special project.

We’ve planned our own move to Aylesbury for a few years now, and we first came across Redemption Roasters at London Coffee Festival in 2017. We knew then that we’d love to work with them for a number of reasons.

The coffee beans Redemption roast is ethically sourced generally from small farms and Redemption have first-hand knowledge of the farms. There’s usually a story associated with each.

To have locally roasted beans was something that seemed special too, however the project that is behind the whole process is incredibly visionary and valuable.

Redemption Roasters are based at Aylesbury Prison – HM Young Offenders Institute. They are part of a project aimed at reducing re-offending rates. The vision is that by skilling up the young people with specialist vocational skills and real prospects for employment there can be  transformation in the lives of these young people. Redemption host a café inside the prison where competition level barista skills are learned. They also have a roastery under the guidance of a head roaster and assistant roaster. They take charge of the roasting process and gradually allow the young people more involvement as they prove their skills.

Redemption also do all they can to help place the young people in employment on release.

So with all of this, and the fact that the coffee tastes great to – we were very exited to confirm that we will be able to sell Aylesbury Roasted beans to our customers – whether in Aylesbury itself at Duck Farm Court, or online.

Colour, design, and an expression of ecofriendly individuality.

ecoffee cup wide range promo

The ecoffee story could be one of colour, of design, of environmental concern, of practicality, of individuality. In fact it’s all of these.

The wide range of patterns and designs make the ecoffee cup a colourful attractive cup which can be a little expression of individuality every time you have a coffee.

The ecoffee cups available at artistrycoffee.co.uk are reusable takeaway coffee cups. They could give you a discount on your next takeaway coffee from your favourite coffee shop as increasing numbers are offering discounts if you use your own cup rather than a throwaway cup. So everytime you use your own cup you could be making a positive difference to both your wallet and the environment.

The problem with a lot of own cups is that they can affect the taste – giving a hint of plastic or metallic taste – or are heavy (ceramic cups). The ecoffee cup is light and durable, yet has none of these taste effects as it is naturally sterile bamboo fibre.

The problem of waste from takeaway cups has now reached the news headlines on more than one occasion and the government is considering a surcharge on their use, so the ecoffee cup can represent your own response to this issue. A thin plastic coating is present in most takeaway cups, which is very difficult to separate in normal recycling operations, so the sad story is that despite most of us thinking for many years that we were recycling – we weren’t! The cups have generally ended up in landfill. Using your own cup puts you in control and ensures you’re not contributing negatively to this issue.

The ecoffee cup is made from naturally organic bamboo fibre combined with a non-GMO corn starch and a resin binder. The lid and sleeve are food grade silicone. Bamboo is fast growing, quickly renewable and sustainable. It doesn’t require any pesticides or chemicals and absorbs a third more CO2 than an equivalent area of hardwood trees.

An ecoffee cup can last indefinitely if you take care of it, but the cup is naturally biodegradable at the end of its lifetime and the silicone lid and sleeve recyclable with kerbside recycling.

It’s not insulated, but will keep a drink warmer for longer than a takeaway cup.

The ecoffee cup is suitable for vegans as it contains no tallow or other animal products.

So why not take a look at the fabulous range of ecoffee cups at artistrycoffee.co.uk and see what suits your style!
